According to a survey by the State Department of Health (SES), Maranhão is responsible for 27,515 active cases and 25,879 people are in home isolation due to the disease. Of the new confirmed cases, 65 were in Grande Ilha (São Luis, São José de Ribamar, Paco de Lumiere and Raposa), 468 in other municipalities of the state and 38 in the Empress. As for the number of people recovered, the number of people recovered in Maranhão reached 258,842.

Bed

The state Department of Health (SES) reported that the occupancy rate of beds in an intensive care unit (ICU) for patients infected with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Grande Ilha has reached 95.34%. Data shows that 13 out of 279 beds are available for patients in São Luis, São José de Ribamar, Paco de Lumiere and Raposa, as well as serious cases coming from cities within the state.

Regarding dispensary beds or clinical beds in Grand Ilha, the occupancy rate was 94.92% of the 532 beds available, 505 are occupied and 27 are free.

In Imperatriz, Maranhão’s second largest city, the ICU bed occupancy rate was 72.22%. The municipality has 20 beds out of 72 units fitted with respirators to receive Covid-19 patients. Regarding clinical beds, the rate was 48.97%: of 194 units, 95 are occupied and 99 are still free.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,513 health professionals have confirmed infection with the virus, of those, 4,326 have recovered and 80 have died.
