In recent years, Danish Count Nikolai (25 years old) has lived in Paris and Australia with his girlfriend Benedikt Thostrup (25 years old), while they studied at Copenhagen Business School. At the beginning of the year, the couple returned to their homeland in Denmark.
Confirm a new girlfriend
The Count has also moved around a lot within his home country, and now the 25-year-old has shared several private photos from his childhood home, Schackenburg Castle, on Instagram.
“In my childhood home,” Nikolai writes under this post.
He posted a number of photos from inside and outside the property, including pictures of himself playing billiards in the living room and old photos of his grandparents Queen Margrethe, 84, and Prince Henrik placed on a sideboard.
Many followers took to the comments section, including one person who asked the Count about his favorite memories from Schackenburg Castle.
“I've probably spent all my Christmases here,” the 25-year-old answers.
In the 1990s, Queen Margrethe's youngest son, Prince Joachim (55 years old), moved to Schackenburg Castle with his family, his then wife Countess Alexandra (60 years old) and children Count Nikolai and Count Felix (22 years old).
Caught in the act
The family lived in the castle until 2014, when they packed up and moved to Copenhagen. Five years later, the family moved to France, home of Joachim's current wife, Princess Marie (48).
In 2023, news came that Joachim and Marie were moving to Washington, D.C., USA. Here, the prince works as a defense industries attaché at the embassy in Washington.
