Caixa Geral de Depósitos named Best Employer in a year with 250 new employees

Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) has been recognized as a Top Employer in Portugal by the Top Employer Institute, a global body in certifying excellence in people management practices.

This certification comes as a result of an evaluation of 255 CGD HR policies and practices, in an initiative that already covers some 2,300 organizations in 121 countries.

In the year that Caixa boosted diverse hiring, the organization has already hired 250 new employees, representing about 5% of its total workforce, something that has not happened since 2009. CGD sees this hiring as essential for the innovation and competitiveness of the organization, enhancing the mix of expertise and creativity between older and younger employees.

Furthermore, CGD invests in digital transformation, introducing technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, which require existing skills in the labor market.

The Foundation implements several employment programs annually, most notably the Geração Caixa Program, which this year attracted more than 5,000 applications from young graduates interested in developing skills in the financial sector. Participants have the opportunity to join CGD teams for 12 months, with ongoing monitoring.

In 2024, CGD has already recruited 250 new employees, 125 experienced and 125 trainees through the Geração Caixa programme. The organization also recruits talent through summer internships, receiving 635 applications this year.

Recruitment is viewed not only as an operational necessity, but as a vital strategy for the future of the organization. CGD invests in a structured, well-executed process to ensure we attract and retain the best talent, and foster a productive and innovative work environment.
