Do you want to save money? The 100 Envelope Challenge is trending on social media and promises to help

At a time when saving money is becoming increasingly difficult for Portuguese families, there are many proven saving methods that help along the way. And now there's a new one that's becoming a hit on social media.

One of these methods that has received attention on social media, especially on the TikTok application, is the so-called 100 envelope method. This approach has led many people to save without putting in much effort. The concept is simple and turns the task of saving into a fun and challenging game.

How does it work? The method involves preparing 100 envelopes numbered from 1 to 100. Every day, the user must choose an envelope at random and save the amount corresponding to the envelope number. For example, if you choose an envelope of 5, you will put up 5 euros, and if you choose an envelope of 50, you will put down 50 euros. Over the course of 100 days, the total amount saved can reach a staggering €5,050, and could be higher, depending on how much each person decides to deposit.

By turning saving into a game, this method seems to provide motivation. Each chosen envelope is seen as a small victory, which helps maintain enthusiasm. What's more, because it's visual and practical, it allows participants to feel like they're making real progress with their finances.

The suggestion is to adjust the amount to be put in the envelopes according to personal income, and the most important thing is to make sure you put some money every day, even just one euro, in the envelopes.
