The regional phase of the 21st National Science and Technology Week – IFRN begins

The event opened at Campus Lajes. The program will also include activities at other IFRN universities

The regional phase of the 21st National Science and Technology Week kicked off last Monday, 10/14. The opening ceremony was held in campus Lajes of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN) and is the result of the approval of the project “Conexão Ciência: Promoting Scientific and Technological Knowledge in the RN” – submitted by the Institute – in the Public Call CNPq/MCTI No. 08 /2024, of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq ) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).

The opening included an initial discussion session composed of the Director General campus Lages, Andre Bezerra, by IFRN Editora Coordinator, Magda Diniz, Research and Innovation Coordinator at campus Lajes, Daniel Aguiar, and one of the people responsible for presenting the project, Daniel Lima. The ceremony was also attended by directors of agencies, general managers, academics, employees and students of the institute.

This moment also included a lecture entitled “Seeing Science Everywhere,” delivered by teachers from the university campus Natal Central, Amadeo Albino and Gloria Albino. For Gloria, the desire is for the 21st SNCT Congress to expand scientific knowledge: “What we want is for science to reach everyone, everywhere. So being able to talk about science, and the importance of science for the development of the whole country, is very important for us.

The project presented by IFRN contains a set of activities that will be implemented, such as: technical and scientific exhibitions and experiments; Lectures and conversation panels. These activities will be held in ten municipalities in the state, with the following dates already announced by the organization:

The dates of the activities in Jocuroto, Santa Cruz and João Cámara are scheduled to be announced soon, as Editora IFRN coordinator Magda Diniz explained: “Each municipality will have its own programme, and in this programme, many researchers and specialist researchers will participate. Conexão Ciência also collaborates with four other institutions: the Chico Méndez Institute for Conservation and Biodiversity (ICMBio); Institute for Economic Development and Environment (Idema); Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC); and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).
