Arsenal raises new doubts about Paris Saint-Germain's European project UEFA Champions League

Over the years, the strategy has changed, but outside French borders, PSG's multi-million-dollar project remains unsuccessful. And this Tuesday, the Parisians witnessed another fall to earth: despite dominating the match, the Parisians were beaten in London in the second round of the Champions League by an effective Arsenal. The remaining matches featured a handful of other hits.

Two weeks after winning at Parque dos Principes against Girona, Paris Saint-Germain failed in their first major test of the 2024/25 Champions League. With Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves and Vitinha in the “11”, the French ended the match at the Emirates Stadium with an advantage in all statistics, but in a duel between the Spanish technicians, Mikel Arteta beat Luis Enrique: four shots were enough for and Arsenal beat Paris Saint-Germain with a score of 2. -0, scored by Havertz and Saka in the first half.

As in the first round, the beginning of the second round of the Champions League was marked by defeat, the biggest of which was again Germany. After Bayern's 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb, Borussia beat Celtic 7-1 in Dortmund.

The other win that night came in Catalonia, where Barcelona had no problems against Young Boys (5-0), thanks to a Lewandowski brace. On the other hand, City were with Matheus Nunes on the pitch for 90 minutes, and Ruben Dias came on in the second half; Bernardo Silva did not leave the bench – he went to Slovakia for tourism: Thanks to the goals of Gundogan, Foden, Haaland and McAtee, the Manchester team beat Slovan Bratislava with a score of 0-4. With the same result, and with a penalty kick from Taremi, Inter beat Red Star in Milan.

Unlike “nerazzurri“, rival Milan lost again in the Champions League. After the defeat at home to Liverpool, the team coached by Paulo Fonseca, which included Rafael Leao full-time, lost in Leverkusen to Bayer: at the start of the second half, Victor Boniface scored the only goal of the match At Bay Arena.

One of the matches that opened the afternoon ended in another defeat and made sure Brest felt comfortable against their Austrian rival. With a mediocre start in the French league – four defeats in six rounds – the Brittany side defeated Sturm Graz (2-1) two weeks ago in France, and this time they achieved an even greater feat: in Austria, they imposed a crushing defeat against Red Bull Salzburg: 0-4.
