Muriel Forrer, an 18-year-old cyclist, died after falling at the World Junior Road Championships – Cycling.

Swiss cyclist Muriel Forer, 18, did not survive her injuries after a fall at the World Junior Road Championships and died on Friday. It was the International Cycling Union (UCI) itself that announced the death of the young cyclist-

“With the death of Muriel Forer, the international cycling community loses a Swiss cyclist who had a bright future ahead of her. The 18-year-old cyclist suffered a serious fall yesterday. [quinta-feira]During the road race, he suffered a serious head injury before being transported by helicopter to hospital in a very critical condition. Muriel Forrer passed away today, unfortunately, at the University Hospital in Zurich,” can be read on the UCI’s social networks.

Muriel Forrer was in a “very critical condition” after collapsing during the junior long distance race at the World Road Championships. The Swiss cyclist was taken to hospital and flown by helicopter after suffering a serious head injury, leaving the UCI “extremely concerned.”

The young cyclist participated in the long-distance race in Zurich on Thursday, in very humid conditions on the Swiss road, under heavy rain, which also affected the men's race.

The International Cycling Union added: “There are no confirmed facts about the causes of the accident. The competent authorities are conducting an investigation.”
