Sporting 'new' begins pre-season with Luis Magalhaes back at the helm and several new faces – Basketball

Sporting started pre-season this Tuesday with several new faces, starting with coach Luis Magalhães, who is no stranger to Pavilhao João Rocha. The coach returns to lead the Lions, having left two seasons ago to sign Pedro Nuno. At the start of training, the experienced coach outlined what he wants for the new Sporting team. “We have to measure our potential, and be clear that we will do everything we can to be able to make decisions,” Magalhães told the Lions’ website. He is assisted this year by Ivan Kosturkov (who took over from previous seasons), Sergio Ramos (who was assistant to the national team) and Miguel Minhava (who was coach of Benfica’s under-18 team). The latest reinforcements announced by the Lions have already been integrated into the squad. This is Bruno Araujo, 23 years old, 2.00m tall, a winger from V. Guimarães. “I want to do my part in attack and defence. One of my main characteristics is determination and never giving up on a ball,” the Portuguese described himself on the club's website.

Bruno Araújo is Sporting's eighth reinforcement, following the arrivals of Uwais Razak, Isaiah Armwood, Lodji Dipu, Kenny Funderburk, Jeremiah Bailey, Sergio Silva and Reggie Johnson.

“We are excited to see what other teams have to offer and how we will be able to put together a team with our new group of players,” said Luis Magalhaes.
