Sega reveals new features to mark Sonic’s 30th birthday

Sega has kicked off celebrations of the 30th anniversary of Sonic, the company’s main mascot. During the “Sonic Central” event held on Thursday (27), the gaming giant made some announcements.

A remastered version of Sonic Colors will be released, a collection of some major old games in the franchise and an all-new game for the current generation of consoles, planned for next year.

Sonic Colors Ultimate will be compatible with all existing platforms, and contain additional content, such as Sonic Baby and the live-action movie version. The game will be available on September 7 for Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Nintendo Switch.

A French store leaked two new Sega products: a re-mastering of Sonic Colors and a host of old games for the blue hedgehog, which was confirmed by the company in Sonic Central on Thursday (27)

The Sonic Origins collection will feature Sonic 1, 2 and 3 games, Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic CD. All games will feature technical and news improvements that will be revealed later this year. Available platforms are not disclosed.

Finally, the company has revealed a bit about the next game in the franchise, which will be released next year. There aren’t many details about the launch yet.
