A 55-year-old man died in March after a tree fell on the car he was driving. Danish police believe it was intentional.

Now six men have been charged with negligent homicide, Sydsjællands and Lolland-Falster police wrote. press release.

Two of the youths were also charged with fleeing the scene and failing to assist the man.

The six men were also charged with causing danger and serious damage in relation to another incident where a tree fell and landed on a road in Slagelse.

Police: Deliberate act

On March 13 earlier this year, the 55-year-old was driving in Sorø, an hour west of Copenhagen, when a large tree fell on top of his car and killed him.

The police found the perpetrators the next day and quickly interrogated the suspects. The police were quick to assess that it was a deliberate act.

Now the investigation shows that the tree that fell on the dead man was cut down deliberately.

Several trees were also cut down in the same way in the areas around where the man died around March.

The police also wrote in the press release that several instances were detected where trees were cut down and fell on roads.

In total, they have brought charges against nine different men, from various incidents where trees were cut down and fell onto roads.

Police say five of the men are also accused of deliberately cutting down trees in three different cases in and around Ringsted in Denmark.
