Galaxy S25 Ultra: More curves, thinner, less weight

Published on

Although we have yet to get any major 'leaks' regarding the design of the new Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is really interesting considering Samsung is known for not being able to keep big secrets. It seems increasingly certain that Samsung will leave aside the “boxy” philosophy left behind by the old Galaxy Note, in favor of something a little different, and perhaps more attractive to the vast majority of users.

However, I admit that I am a little disappointed, because I think that the square or rectangular design of the Samsung Ultra is something very specific to the brand, able to define and distinguish this type of device from everything else.

Sometimes everything has to change for you to reach new levels of success.

Galaxy S25 Ultra: More curves, thinner, lighter

Remember all the talk about the new iPhone 17 Slim? A smartphone that would have to set aside Apple’s current design philosophy for something new, thinner and lighter, of course? Well, while Apple is planning changes in 2025, Samsung is preparing a new design as early as 2024 with its S25 Ultra.

In other words, like it or not, Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra seems designed to abandon the square design with “sharp” corners of the current S24 Ultra.

After all, it is said to have curved or rounded corners, like other models in the lineup. What's more, the next generation of high-end Galaxy devices will also be thinner than any recent Ultra device.

Since it is rounder and thinner, it is also likely lighter.

Strange why?

Note that…the vast majority of current high-end smartphones already have rounded corners. I have 6 smartphones in front of me, and with the exception of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, they are all rounded.

In other words, it's a differentiator that, in my opinion, is very interesting to see and feel. It's always a good idea for a manufacturer to have a device that can be easily recognized from afar. or not?

Wouldn't it be a mistake to make the S25 Ultra look like so many other devices?
