Volkswagen has announced the launch of the new Golf R, the most powerful model in the range to date, with an impressive 333 hp (245 kW). For the first time, this power is available as standard, a feat that has until now been reserved only for special models. The maximum speed has also been increased to 270 km/h with the Performance Package.

The 2024 Golf R features updated styling with new LED headlights, an illuminated Volkswagen badge and new 19-inch Warmenau wheels. Internally, the model offers a cutting-edge infotainment system, an updated Digital Cockpit Pro, and a GPS timer for track enthusiasts.

The voice assistant IDA, capable of controlling functions such as air conditioning and navigation, now integrates ChatGPT, providing accurate answers to general knowledge questions.

The special edition Golf R Black Edition features a completely dark appearance, including 19-inch black wheels and IQ.LIGHT LED tinted headlights. This exclusive edition also includes the Performance Package, which offers additional driving modes such as Drift and Special, the latter optimized for the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The new Golf R features a 1,984 cc four-cylinder turbo engine, delivering a maximum torque of 420 Nm between 2,100 and 5,500 rpm. This engine is coupled to a seven-speed automatic transmission (DSG) and the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with R Performance Torque Vectoring, which variably distributes power between the wheels, providing more agile behavior and eliminating understeer.

The new Golf R comes with several driving modes, including Eco mode and a new Special mode, in addition to the already well-known Comfort, Sport, Race and Individual modes. Race mode, for example, pre-conditions the turbocharger to respond faster. Drift mode allows special control of drifting on special tracks.

The 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with R Performance Torque Vectoring is complemented by a MacPherson front axle, a four-link rear axle and 18-inch brakes. Progressive steering, Intelligent Vehicle Dynamics Manager and Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC) ensure a balance between maximum dynamics and superior comfort.

The new 2024 Golf R raises the bar for performance and technology at Volkswagen. With significant improvements in design, mechanics and technological features, this model promises an unparalleled driving experience. Pre-sales begin in Europe in June, marking the Golf's 50th anniversary.
