a Meta Platforms and Apple have discussed a partnership in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). According to the Wall Street Journal, Facebook's parent company has discussed integrating its generative AI model into Apple's recently announced AI system for the iPhone.
As Reuters highlighted, the change comes as Apple plans to add technology from other AI companies to its devices, with reports of an ongoing discussion with Alphabet.
In addition, Apple is expected to discuss partnerships with AI companies in various regions such as China, where ChatGPT is banned, for example.
Negotiations are also scheduled to take place with Anthropic, which, like META, declined to comment on the matter.
The Wall Street Journal writes that agreements with Apple will help AI companies achieve broader distribution of their products, but discussions have not been finalized and may fail.
Recall that this month Apple announced a new AI strategy, which is reflected in the “Apple Intelligence” technology, a set of resources that brings, for example, the ChatGPT chatbot to its devices.
