Jundiai confirms thirteenth death due to dengue fever in 2024 |  Sorocaba and Gondiai

gondii (SP) This Thursday (20), five more deaths due to dengue fever were confirmed. In total, the municipality recorded 13 deaths due to the disease.

  • Woman, 70 years old, with comorbidities. She lived in Villa Garcia and died on May 8.
  • Man, 91 years old, with comorbidities. He lived in Jardim Sevilha and died on May 13.
  • Man, 89 years old, with comorbidities. He lived in Jardim Pacaembu and died on May 15.
  • Man, 90 years old, with comorbidities. He lived in Villa Didi and died on May 24.
  • Woman, 76 years old, with comorbidities. She lived in Jardim, California and died on May 25.

According to the epidemiological bulletin issued. The city recorded 21,971 cases of dengue fever, 21,791 of them are indigenous people – when contracting the disease within the municipality -, and 180 imported.

Dengue fever is part of a group of diseases called arboviruses. The virus is transmitted by the bite of the female Aedes aegypti mosquito and has four different serotypes: DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4 – all of which can cause different forms of the disease.

All age groups are equally susceptible to the disease, but the elderly and those with chronic diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, are more likely to develop serious conditions and other complications that may lead to death. Learn about the main symptoms of dengue fever:
