This is what the wife of blogger Agdus Sadikov wrote on social media.

Ukrainian prosecutors have confirmed that a 56-year-old Kazakh man has been shot dead. They write that the person in question is a journalist, but they do not mention Sadikov by name.

The incident occurred in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on Tuesday.

According to his wife, opposition blogger Agdus Sadikov, who has more than a million subscribers on YouTube, was the one who was attacked.

– In Kiev today, near his home, there was an assassination attempt against Agdus Sadikov, writes Natalia Sadikova on social media.

Sadikova says her husband underwent surgery, but his condition is serious, and she encourages people to pray “for his survival.”

It accuses the Kazakh President of being behind the assassination attempt.

Together the pair run a well-known opposition channel in Kazakhstan.

They are very critical of President Kassym-Jomart Tokajev.

Sadikov has been wanted in his homeland for the past year. He was granted asylum in Ukraine in 2014.

Ukrainian authorities say they have launched an investigation into the incident.

According to preliminary information, an unknown person carrying a gun ran towards the car in which the victim and his wife were present and shot the man before fleeing, as the press office of the Public Prosecution wrote on Facebook.

They also write that the incident occurred in the Shevchenkiv district, near the house where the couple lives.
