Another tourist was found dead

The missing American tourist was found dead on a relatively deserted beach on the small island of Mathraki west of Corfu, according to the Associated Press news agency.

According to the news agency, Mithraki Island is densely green and is inhabited by only 100 permanent residents.

The tourist, a man, was reportedly reported missing on Thursday by the person who visited him on the island, a Greek-American friend.

Tourists disappeared on holiday paradise


The deceased tourist was said to have been last seen at a café with two female tourists who have since left the island. No other information about the victim or death is yet available.

The discovery of the American is the latest in a series of deaths on the Greek islands.

On Saturday, a missing Dutch tourist was found dead on the island of Samos. He was found in a ravine about 300 meters from where he was last seen.

More recently, several tourists have lost their lives in similar circumstances, including well-known British TV doctor Michael Mosley.

Authorities are still searching for four other missing tourists. It concerns two French women in their 60s and 70s on the island of Sykonos and a 59-year-old man on the island of Amorgos.
