Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the attack on Rafah in the Gaza Strip, which killed at least 45 people, was a tragic mistake. The attack took place against a refugee camp for internally displaced people in the Gaza Strip, which was supposed to be a so-called “safe zone.”

The Israeli bomb attack led to a fire that has so far claimed the lives of 45 people.

Photos and videos from the area show multiple burned bodies. Many of the dead were women and children.

Netanyahu said during his speech in the Knesset that he agreed to several requests to extend negotiating mandates, but the only obstacle is Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas.

Many Norwegians signed a petition calling on the UN Security Council to implement the UN court's order for Israel to stop the Rafah attack. In the petition, 19 relief organizations wrote that immediate action is needed to uphold international law and ensure that the Israeli government follows through on the International Court of Justice order, which was announced on Friday. These organizations include Norwegian People's Aid, the Norwegian Refugee Council, the Church's Emergency Relief Services, as well as Plan International and Care.

– The International Court of Justice decided that Israeli military operations in Rafah had created a catastrophic humanitarian situation, in line with repeated predictions and warnings from the humanitarian community as the attack escalated, the organizations wrote, before repeating the International Court of Justice’s order to stop the military attack. In Rafah, open the Rafah Crossing – Relief Transition Zone without hindrance, and give UN teams access so they can investigate potential violations of the UN Convention on the Prevention of Genocide.
