FAPESP Agency – Registration began yesterday (25/04) for the third edition of the Science for All Prize, an initiative of FAPESP and the Roberto Marinho Foundation, through Future Channel. The initiative aims to encourage the development of scientific activities in government schools and enhance the participation of students and the school community in science and its applications in education and life. Registration is closed until June 3.

As in the previous edition, the theme of the award will be “A Better World for All”, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Sustainable development goalsIt seeks to reflect on the role of science in achieving the goals of the 2030 Plan, in addition to enhancing the importance of scientific development as one of the pillars of forming critical, reflective citizens who work to build a more sustainable, less unequal and increasingly inclusive future.

Those responsible for registering for the award are teachers from the Public Education Network, starting from the proposal submission process until the implementation of the submitted project.

Teachers can record actions involving one of their students' classes or a group made up of students from different classes, who will participate in implementing the project. Participants must attend the last years of primary and secondary education, and be registered in the public network of the State of São Paulo, taking into account formal education, and in the sectors of Education for Youth and Adults (EJA) and Vocational Technical Secondary Education. All you have to do is go to the awards website to register.

Award-winning teachers and students in each category will have the opportunity to visit a research center supported by FAPESP (including transportation, food and educational mediation). Teachers of the winning teams will also receive a notebook.

In this third edition, the Prize will select and highlight research projects, in any field of knowledge, that use scientific methods to propose solutions to concrete problems related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (UN). All registrants will participate in at least two days of training provided by Fundação Roberto Marinho, through the digital course environments of Future ChannelTo learn about writing projects, using audio-visual aids in education, as well as creating and editing videos. At the end, participants will receive certificates for completed trips.

Research projects must: 1) identify a concrete problem in society, 2) formulate hypotheses 3) review the literature and 4) present intervention proposals. Candidates must also, before submitting solutions, report their results and conclusions in a video format. Participation of eligible projects in the registration phase includes submitting the research report and audio and video recording in the final phase, which will continue until September 30. The awards ceremony will be held in November, with the date and location to be determined later.
