A 17-year-old girl was found dead in Sweden – the police criticize themselves

Close relatives criticize police efforts.

The 17-year-old was found dead on Monday in the municipality of Marks, southeast of Gothenburg.

The girl's parents had already raised the alarm the previous Thursday. She never returned home from school when class ended at 2.40pm, according to Swedish media.

However, it took four days before the police began searching for her.

Finally, the 17-year-old was found a few minutes' walk from his school. A boy of the same age detained She was suspected of murder.

Police said it was the information obtained from his interrogation that led to the girl being found.

On Wednesday, the Coast Guard assisted police in diving at the discovery site.

They will not yet say what they are looking for.

– This is police work, says a representative of the Coast Guard Command Center in the Aftonbladet newspaper.

Police should investigate their handling, NTB wrote. The statement comes from Peter Sorstedt, President of Sweden Special unit:

– Was there anything we could have done differently? Is there something we should look at so that we can provide answers, especially to those left behind, about what we could have done in the early days?

It is currently unclear how long the murder investigation will take. However, police said they would use “all resources” in the case, according to NTB.
