The gaming sector participates for the first time in the 5th Science, Technology and Innovation Conference: Gazeta Rural

With the aim of discussing the public policies and legislative needs of the region, the electronic gaming sector was present at the free stage of the 5th Science, Technology and Innovation Conference for the first time, organized by the Government of Bahia, the Federal University of Bahia and Virtual Communities.

One of the activities was the roundtable held on Tuesday (13), to discuss the “Legal Framework for the Brazilian Games Industry: Limits and Possibilities”, in the presence of the President of the Digital Game Developers Association of the State of Rio de Janeiro (RING), Márcio Filho; Professor of Education at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Len Alves; and the director of Savegame.dev, Pedro Zambon

As the main topic, PL 2796/2021, known as the Legal Framework for Electronic Games, which aims to regulate the electronic gaming industry in the country, was the target point at the meeting held this morning. The legal framework for electronic games is a starting point for shaping public policies related to training and promoting economic activity in this expanding sector.

For RING President Márcio Filho, the debate is essential to understanding the future and strength of the sector in the country.

He added: “For the first time, games are part of the conference, discussing a historical moment in Brazil, which is reorganizing the pillars of its operations in a strategic sector, through the legal framework for electronic games. He reveals that this framework will provide the legal basis for the country to be able to advance in the global market.

Another participant in the conversation, Professor of Education at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Len Alves, believes that “it is important for the gaming ecosystem to participate in conferences related to science and technology, especially with the debate on the legal framework, which is an essential point to point out the struggles of the sector. Therefore, holding the conference is necessary to expand the debate, especially due to the regulation of the legal framework when considering actions at the national and state levels to promote the gaming world in Brazil.
