Pinto da Costa: The challenge facing António Oliveira to take over the presidency and tractors of the academy – Porto

After introducing Marta Masada, Antonio Oliveira and Joao Rafael Kohler as members of the FC Porto management list that will lead to the vote, Pinto da Costa answered some questions from the media. In one of them, he was called upon to clarify what he had said shortly before, in a speech he had given, about the support he would have given to Antonio Oliveira had he stood for the elections.

“I even invited him to do it, but he said I still had another task to do, and that he would be available to help me but not to take over,” Pinto da Costa said, ruling out the possibility of Antonio Oliveira coming. To take on the role of sports management: “No. It will be vice president of administration. Today I came to present three elements, in the future there will be more.” Also asked about the status of the academy that FC Porto wants to build in Maya, Pinto da Costa said that work to clear the land has already begun. “I think the tractors are already working there… and soon you will be invited to go there and watch the inauguration ceremony and see the model,” he said.

Reminding that “the past is the past” and that “the future is what is most important,” Pinto da Costa justified the renewal he was promoting in institutional bodies. “I felt that I had to give new impetus to the actions of my administration,” he said, justifying the names of Marta Masada, Antonio Oliveira and João Rafael Kohler: “I understood that they were good people, I trusted them, and they got the job done.” “…Within the renovation I announced I was going to do, I thought they would be good options. Departures will be at a later date.”
