Maradona’s personal doctor Leopoldo Locke is among the accused, writing among others the Argentine newspaper La Nación and ESPN.
The seven accused were not allowed to leave the country. The accused’s sentence ranges between 8 and 25 years in prison.
Maradona was only 60 years old. He passed away on November 25, a few weeks after undergoing brain surgery. The operation was performed as a result of a blood clot.

Three weeks ago, a panel of medical experts presented a 70-page document stating that Maradona had received inadequate medical treatment before his death.
The expert panel concluded that the Argentine “would have had a better chance of survival” had he received the appropriate treatment in a health institution.
Earlier, Maradona’s doctor denied responsibility for the soccer star’s death. He also said that there is no basis for putting Maradona in the hospital and that the former soccer star does not want that either.
The report also stated that the treatment provided was “deficiencies and irregularities” and that the patient was left to “fate.”
