Jose Mourinho has taken to social media to leave a farewell message for Marouane Fellaini, the 36-year-old footballer who will end his career at the end of this season. The Portuguese coach congratulated the Belgian player on his trip, and showed special appreciation to the player whom he considers always “giving everything he can give” to fight for the coach's interests on the field.
“I will never forget the one who gave me everything he could give. You were and will always be one of mine. Congratulations on your career and a rest for those ankles that have suffered so much”, can be read in the message in question.
The 36-year-old midfielder was coached by Special One at Manchester United, between 2016 and 2018, and together they won the Europa League, EFL Cup and EFL Super Cup.
The Belgium international has always admired the Portuguese's work ethic and leadership. Remember that, in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport in 2019, the midfielder said He remembered what it was like to work with Mourinho. He said at the time: “For me, he is a great man. I like his personality. He is strong but generous. In football, it is normal to have ups and downs in the relationship between coach and player.”
Marouane Fellaini has been playing Chinese football for Shandong Taishan FC since 2019. With 87 caps for Belgium, he rose to prominence in the English Premier League, where he represented Everton and Manchester United. He trained at Standard Liège.
