After more than six months of facing the sad news, Joao Catari, 43, has broken his silence about the fight against cancer. Confirmation of the illness arrived in June 2023, when the actor was still recording the TV series “Sangue Oculto” (SIC), after feeling unusually tired.
“I had a serious case of cancer. The news came to me personally, in a crude way, that I had to be seen. I was with Joanna [Pais de Brito, a namorada]. We have the idea that we are strong, that we can handle anything. “When this happens to us, we think that it is not only for others,” the actor revealed to Daniel Oliveira on the program “Alta Definição” (SIC).
Months of therapy followed, in isolation, with his girlfriend as his mainstay. “Companionship, respect, friendship and love. We have resolved the situation and we both suffer from it,” he said, stressing that the health problem “has been completely overcome.”
As for the physical changes, as a result of the treatments he underwent, Katari downplays his worth and ensures that the most important thing is to be healthy and with the people he loves most.
The actor will maintain vigilance, be “careful with his diet” and invest in physical activity.
