Charles Grodin, who starred in comedies like “The Heartbreak Kid” and the early parts of the dog saga “Beethoven”, died today at the age of 86, at his home in Connecticut, USA.

His family confirmed the death to the media, who remembered that the artist not only worked on the big screen, but also on Broadway shows, such as “Same Time, Next Year”, in addition to collaborating on radio and television programs.

Grodin has reached a place in Hollywood, with his roles as a frustrated urban family man, including his first success in 1972, “The Heartbreak Kid,” for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Film.

The actor continued to work in blockbuster films, such as “King Kong” (1976) and in films alongside stars such as Warren Beaty, in “Heaven Can Wait” (1978) and Robert De Niro, in “Midnight Run” (1988), which is A work for which he won the Best Lead Actor award at the Valladolid International Film Festival.

In the 1990s, the actor starred in “Dave”, which won him an American Comedy Award, and in the first two parts of the saga “Beethoven” (1992).

Grodin played the stern father of the family who initially refused to sponsor a dog, Beethoven, who won fans over and raised more than $ 147 million (€ 120.2 million) at the box office.

The actor returned to be part of the cast in the second part of the saga, released in 1993, which he broke up with to start a period as a regular collaborator on TV shows.
