Considering the performance of the Core Ultra 7 165H offered Intel event in December155H should be more than enough to compete with the company's Z1 Extreme APUs. Asus ROG Ally. Therefore, it makes sense to have a simpler model, with a Core Ultra 5 135H to counter the non-extreme Z1 version.

A competitor on the rise

Hey Canaltech I had the opportunity for a short practical training with A Laptop with Core Ultra 7 165H processor Through Intel AI Everywhere. When playing at FullHD resolution with good graphic quality and above 80 FPS, the battery of the tested model has an estimated autonomy of 3 to 4 hours.

When we bring this fact to a more compact model with a simpler processor, it is possible to estimate that the autonomy of the MSI Claw is, at least, equivalent to or even greater than the two hours of the ROG Ally. It's also worth noting that the MSI laptop's battery is 53 watt-hours, compared to just 40 watt-hours in the ASUS model, indicating longer battery life.

The memory configurations for the Ally and Claw are the same, with 16GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory, but the MSI laptop's connectivity is superior, already in WiFi standard 7, Bluetooth 5.4. In terms of storage, the new laptop also comes out on top, offering plenty of storage space SSD 512 GB NVMe PCIe4 in the version with Core Ultra 5, and 1 TB in the top model with Core Ultra 7.

MSI also confirmed that the Claw will have a 7-inch display, FullHD (1920 x 1080) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, which is the same setup as the Ally. Taking into account only what we know so far – and without testing Legion GO, which has not yet been released in Brazil —, MSI Claw is an excellent competitor in the market of new portable consoles, at least on par with ASUS and Lenovo models.
