“Oh my god Selena Gomez 😫😫😫”; “oof. Taylor Swift”: Stars upset with Golden Globes host

On social media, the jokes were labeled as “uncomfortable, xenophobic, sexist and misogynistic.”

Joe Kooy was the chosen presenter — just two weeks ago — for the Golden Globes. Part of the audience did not welcome him well.

For example: One of Coy's first jokes was directed at Greta Gerwig, Barbie's manager. “Barbie was based on a plastic doll with big breasts. I don't want you to think I'm creepy, but it's a bit strange that I would be attracted to a plastic doll,” the comedian said.

Among the audience, the reaction from Gerwig – the director – and Ryan Gosling – Caine in the film – was cold. Helen Mirren and Selena Gomez reacted by hiding their faces. So, for example:

One of the jokes targeted Taylor Swift. The singer, who is dating NFL player Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, saw Koe referencing the times she has been photographed watching her boyfriend's games live.

“The difference between the NFL and the Golden Globes is that the Golden Globes don't have all the cameras focused on Taylor Swift,” the comedian said. At the table, Taylor frowned as he took a sip of champagne.

“Saltburn” actor Barry Keoghan – who has a nude scene in the series – has also been the target of Coy's jokes – both regarding his sexual organ and his ancestry. “Where does his penis sit? In the front? He was the real star of the show,” Coy said.

As for Oppenheimer, Coy said he liked the film but said he had one complaint: “I needed another hour. I feel like I needed more backstory. My New Year's resolution for 2024 is to finish 'Oppenheimer' in 2025.”
