A woman with two uteruses gave birth to two daughters in two days

A woman in the United States gave birth to two daughters, each in a separate womb, two days apart. The question now is: Are they twins or just regular siblings?

“Never in our wildest dreams could we have planned a pregnancy and birth like this, but bringing our healthy girls safely into this world was always the goal,” Kelsey Hatcher, 32, said in a statement released by the hospital in Birmingham. Alabama (UAB).

Both babies are born in separate uteruses. Hatcher from Alabama in the USA has it specifically Double uterus – A rare condition that occurs in only one in 2,000 women, according to American Health authorities.

It is very rare for a woman to give birth to two babies at approximately the same time in each uterus. Hatcher became pregnant with a fertilized egg in each uterus, which is described as a one-in-a-billion event, according to CNN.

– We don't learn about this even in medical training, because it's so rare, Hatcher's doctor, Shweta Patel, told the channel.

Two birthdays

Hatcher gave birth to her girls after a 20-hour labor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital on Tuesday of this week.

Roxy arrived first, while her sister Rebel arrived the next morning, 10 hours later.

– It seems appropriate for them to have two birthdays, and now each of them has their own unique birth story, the mother says in a statement, quoted by Sky News.

Hatcher was diagnosed with a double uterus — also known as a double uterus — when she was 17 years old.

According to CNN, it started with what was Hatcher's fourth pregnancy.

She took a home test and it came back positive.

-And when I told him (husband, editor's note) that I was pregnant again, he said: “Well, what else?” It would be great. “It's going to be okay,” Hatcher told CNN early in her pregnancy.

But at her first ultrasound appointment, eight weeks into the pregnancy, she had a little shock.

Double Womb: Hatcher's daughters were named Roxy Layla and Rebel Laken.

twins?

The ultrasound technician quickly found the first baby, but when she moved the ultrasound wand to the other side of her abdomen, she screamed, “Oh my God!” There is another one,” according to the news channel.

The babies are technically twins, but since they don't share a uterus and can't touch each other, Hatcher wondered if they would bond the way some other twins do.

“I'm very curious to know what they're going to be like, like if they want to have that kind of bond or if they just want to be siblings,” she told CNN.
