Stunning photo in Minho of the meteorite seen – “One of those that turns night into day”

The photo was taken by (Miguel Ventura in Guimarães).

It shows the moment when, as reported by Rádio Vale do Minho on Friday, The meteorite crossed the country’s sky and was seen in several locations, also in Galicia.

“Maybe it is the largest meteorite I have ever photographed. One of the ones that makes night and day…”the author describes.

The celestial body was seen across the country at 6:20 p.m. It must be relevant Gemini phenomenonwhich will continue until Christmas Eve.

These are meteor showers caused by the object 3200 Phaeton. It is believed to be a Pallassian asteroid. With the orbit of a “rocky comet”.

This makes Geminis, along with Quadrants, Major meteor showers that do not originate from a comet.

The meteors emitted from these showers are slow, and… It can be seen in December, usually peaking on the 13th or 14th of December. The most intense date is the morning of the fourteenth.

It is believed that the density of Gemini increases every year, The last one showed 120 to 160 meteors per hour.

Geminis were first observed in 1862,Much more recent than any other meteor shower such as the Perseids and Ionids.
