Silent Hill: Ascension, an interactive horror series set in the Silent Hill universe, was not well received by audiences.
Many viewers complained about the series’ strange dialogue, and shared strange clips on the Internet. In one of these clips, for example, an NPC says he’s looking for berries, asserts that he saw something strange in the forest, doesn’t provide any further details and goes back to looking for berries. You can see this example below.
This led many netizens to assume that the game could be written using artificial intelligence. Now, Goenvid (the game studio) has said that this is not the case. This is what Jacob Navok, CEO of the studio, said:
“Every word in Ascension was written by real people, many of whom have long writing careers, including Telltale titles, Pixar titles, [God of War] Ragnarok, Resident Evil Village and more.
“In our 100,000+ words, none of them are authored by LLMs or IAs, and all come from the dedicated work of a talented team.”
according to Commercial gaming industryGenvid had already run tests to see if AI could improve animation or film production, but concluded that the results were “not good,” resulting in “a lot of repetitive movements.”
