ASF has launched two platforms to help consumers choose health insurance

The “Health Insurance Portal” and the “Health Insurance Observatory” are two platforms launched by the Supervisory Authority for Insurance and Pension Funds (ASF) that aim to improve regulation and supervision of the health insurance market, as well as increase consumer knowledge.

The Supervisory Authority for Insurance and Pension Funds (ASF) launched two platforms, the “Health Insurance Portal” and the “Health Insurance Observatory,” which aim to improve regulation and supervision of the health insurance market, and increase transparency and consumer knowledge.

The Health Insurance Portal is a platform aimed at consumers, centralizing and contextualizing diverse and disjointed information, offering diverse contents prepared by AFS, namely information materials, FAQs, legislation and regulations.

The main goal of this portal is to create the necessary conditions so that consumers can make a conscious and informed decision when purchasing health insurance.

The Health Insurance Observatory collects a range of information about our country’s health insurance ecosystem and will allow consumers and other interested parties to learn about and develop various matters related to health insurance in more depth.

During the annual conference held today, Friday, the Health Insurance Portal and the Health Insurance Observatory were presented, which is a project developed within the scope of regulation and supervision of the health insurance market in Portugal in partnership with NOVA Information Management School (IMS), at the Nova de Lisboa University.

In Portugal, the insurance market issued about 524 million euros of total direct insurance premiums in 2021. In 2022, this value increased to 1.1 billion euros.

The association stated in a statement that it chose “to create two spaces that, although they are interconnected, are distinct platforms, which enhance the functions of the portal, as a distinct place to obtain information, in the most diverse forms, and that of the electronic portal.” The observatory follows another logic Information boards Which reflects many relevant indicators within the scope of health insurance, and from several reliable sources.
