Startup Portugal and consultants IDC and Informa D&B calculated the number and value of this type of company in the country based on the Startups and Startups Law, which came into force in May this year. Together they earn more than two million euros.
Portugal has 4,073 startups with a combined turnover of €2.3 billion and exports of €1.3 billion. Nearly four thousand national startups, in view of Law 21/2013 of May 25, employ 25 thousand people in the provinces of Lisbon (home to 1,822 startups) and Porto (643), as well as Setubal, Braga, Aveiro and Coimbra.
