Actor Matthew Perry dies. He was 54 years old.

The star of the series “Friends,” in which he played Chandler Bing, was found dead today, Saturday, in his home in Los Angeles (United States of America), after drowning, according to the “TMZ” website.

Paramedics were called by phone to respond to a cardiac arrest. According to the North American News website, the actor was found in the jacuzzi. The initial data collected did not indicate a crime and no drugs were found at the scene.

According to the same website, Matthew Perry arrived home on Saturday morning after two hours of playing pickleball (a racquet sport that includes elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis). He asked a personal assistant to go out on a mission, and when he returned two hours later, he found the actor without vital signs and called the emergency medical number.

Perry was one of the stars of Friends, one of the most successful American sitcoms of all time, which aired from 1994 to 2004 and lasted for ten seasons. Chandler, the character played by the actor, appeared in all the episodes, for a total of 234 episodes. Off screen, Matthew Perry has had problems with drugs (the opioid painkiller Vicodin, amphetamine and methadone) and alcohol for the past 30 years, having attended rehab clinics. In 2022, he stated to the New York Times that he had been completely free of addiction since May 2021.

Matthew Langford Perry was born on August 19 in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and had North American and Canadian citizenship. He was not married and had no children.
