Google is launching a security feature that blocks the Messages app during screen capture

Published on

Google Messages is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, but not all of its features are available everywhere. In a new update to the application, the developer implemented a security feature that prevents access to the platform when the screen is captured.

This function is intended to prevent cybercriminals from infecting the phone with malware that records information displayed on the phone’s screen. An additional layer of security should protect passwords, verification codes and other data received via SMS and sent via banks, social networks or other platforms, for example.

Screen sharing is a useful feature for many situations, such as showing photos, videos, documents, or apps to others during a video call. In addition, it can be a way to provide technical support or teach someone something remotely, but there is also the other side that goes with security risks.

According to TheSpAndroid, this new feature is only being rolled out to some users and may take some time to reach the entire community. The pop-up says: “You’re sharing your screen with someone. If you don’t know that person, stop sharing immediately. Google has hidden your sensitive content for security reasons.”
