Espaço Ciência holds activities on Children’s Day

Espaço Ciência was last opened on October 12, 2014

After almost 10 years without activities on Children’s Day, in 2023, Espaço Ciência will operate with special hours and will have a program to celebrate young children. EC will be open from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm, with last entry at 3pm.

In addition to enjoying the regular museum experiences, on Thursday 12 October the visiting public will be able to participate in free activities such as: a cinema session, a boat trip, solar observation, rocket launches and solar system workshops in Palma da Hand and the creation of EcoJoias.

Anyone wishing to participate in the boat trip, the Sistema Solar na Palma da Mão workshop and the Criando EcoJoias workshop must arrive half an hour before the start of each session and obtain the password at the reception. 20 papers will be provided in each session.

1:30pm/2:30pm and 3pm – Motion Picture

Fun, entertaining and scientific productions will be presented for children and their families. With free grading and automatic ordering, interested parties must arrive 10 minutes before the start of each session.

*The event is subject to a maximum hall capacity of 150 people and no food.

From 10 AM to 11 AM | 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM – Boat trip

Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a boat trip that demonstrates the ability of solar energy to replace polluting fuels.

10 AM to 11:50 AM | From 1 pm to 3:45 pm – Solar energy monitoring

In this activity, visitors learn how to observe the Sun safely, avoiding damaging their vision, using a telescope or on-screen projector. The theory includes information about the chemical composition of the Sun, sunspots, and the apparent motion of the Sun. The goal is to show how the Sun can be safely observed and to better understand this star.

10 AM to 11:50 AM | 1 pm to 3:45 pm – Rocket launch

Rocket Launching is an educational experience in which participants learn to launch small-sized rockets, explore physics and engineering concepts while having fun. Participants launch their own rockets, understand propulsion and safety principles, and finally launch their rockets into the sky, watch them rise and learn about aerodynamics and propulsion.

10 AM | 11 AM | 2 pm | 3pm (30 minutes) – Solar System Workshop in Palma da Mau

This activity aims to introduce visitors to the planets of the solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune) in a fun, enjoyable and simple way. Thus, learning about the stars occurs actively, through the construction of experience.

10 AM | 11 AM | 2 pm | 3pm (30 minutes) – Workshop on creating EcoJoias

An educational and creative experience in which visitors have the opportunity to make jewelry using materials found in nature, such as stones, shells, seeds and other natural elements. During the activity, participants learn about the importance of preserving the environment and appreciating wildlife, while developing their artistic skills and exploring the beauty of the natural resources surrounding them. This workshop promotes environmental awareness and creativity, highlighting the connection between nature and creating unique and meaningful objects. location.
