Graham’s, owned by Symington Family Estates, has just launched a commemorative edition of its Single Harvest Tawny 1952 port, to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom. The single release is for sale exclusively at Graham’s Cellars.
This will be the final edition of the 1952 collection, the year of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne, following the commemorative editions in honor of the late Queen’s Diamond and Platinum Jubilee.
The iconic Port wine house explains that it was the seven decades of aging in oak barrels in Graham’s cellars that gave the unique breadth and complexity to their 1952 Single Harvest Tawny Port.
Classify it as a fresh wine to drink after a meal with aromas of honeysuckle, bitter orange, almonds and caramel. With a coppery hue, with subtle tones of pale orange and green in the corona, typical of the age, this wine leaves citrus notes in the mouth, along with notes of caramel and marzipan.
“It is with great pride that we announce the limited, commemorative edition of the 1952 Single Harvest Tawny Port, in honor of the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III – the last bottling we will make of this exceptional wine,” says Charles Symington. The person in charge also explains, “Produced in the year the late Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne and previously released on the occasion of her Diamond and Platinum Jubilee, this wine was specially chosen as a poignant symbol of continuity across generations.”
There are only 30 75ml bottles of this exclusive, limited edition, and each unit is worth €3,000. It is also possible to taste this wine by the glass for visitors to the inn and also for visitors to the restaurant Vinum at Graham, which will serve the wine straight from the Jeroboam – a 4.5 liter bottle.
