IKEA Portugal promises “strong price reductions” on more than 100 products

The chain’s price reduction initiative begins next September and extends throughout the company’s fiscal year, which ends in August of next year.

Ikea Portugal will invest 13 million euros to reduce the prices of “more than a hundred products”. The measure, which comes after two years of high inflation, begins in September and continues until the end of the Swedish company’s fiscal year, in August 2024, an official ECO source said.

“We are aware of the difficulties that the Portuguese have faced and continue to face after two years of inflation and the consequent increase in the cost of living. That is why, after two years we also had to adapt to these new circumstances, we started the financial year with a strong reduction in product prices for various areas of the home. “This is the first step of an investment of €13m over the course of the year,” Oskar Johansson, IKEA’s acting commercial director, said in a statement.

This is not the first time that the Swedish company has adopted an initiative of this kind. In 2019, the chain announced an investment of six million euros to reduce the prices of about 200 products, and in August last year, it announced that it would invest 2.3 million euros to reduce the price of about 100 products from several ranges and for other purposes. All areas of the home throughout the fiscal year.

With five stores in the country – Alfragid, Loris, Loli, Matosinhos and Braga – and an online sales platform, the company is focused on opening planning studios – Almada, Cascais, Coimbra, Lagos, Leiria, Lisbon, Madeira, Seixal and Setubal. and Sintra and Vila Nova de Gaia, the latter opening in June. This year, two new ones are set to open in Lisbon (Avenidas Novas) in October and Madeira (Funchal) later this year.

Ikea Portugal employs approximately 2,800 employees and receives approximately 13.8 million visits per year in physical stores and 51.1 million visits online (website and app).
