The Italian brand restores a symbolic name and proposes an electric “crossover” with 400 km of autonomy
Next October, another 100 percent electric model will be on the Portuguese market. The new element in these modern electrified times is the responsibility of Fiat, which has gone to the rich historical legacy to recover the designation 600 (or Seicento) and apply it to a “crossover” suited to the realities of urban traffic.
The new 600E thus displays the lines that still dominate European taste, the proposal of durability and ground clearance seeking to underscore its own identity. It is a class B (utility vehicle), and is 4.17m long, thus a long way from the original ‘Seicento’ from 1955 – which had a rear engine and was only 3.2m long.
Created from the base (e-CMP2) also used in the Stellantis range by the modern Jeep Avenger, the new 600E claims the family with on-board space and luggage compartment (360 liters), while not neglecting customization. There are, for example, eight different environment colors in the passenger compartment that accentuate the stylistic choices of the instrument panel and the 10.2-inch digital display – which manages communication and entertainment.
The electric unit serving the 600E combines a 156-horsepower motor with a 54-kWh battery. The values indicated by Fiat refer to a range of 400 kilometers (WLTP standard), which can rise to 600 in mostly urban use. The system allows a top speed of 156 km/h and charging can be done using a 100 kW “source”, which gives you half an hour for the battery to reach 20% to 80%.
Orders for our country have already been opened and, as we wrote above, the first units are being delivered in October. Fiat has prepared two versions of the equipment. Entry is guaranteed by the 600E ‘Red’ and then there is a more exclusive option, called ‘La Prima’, with enhanced technical and character options. The driving assistance and safety systems are particularly comprehensive in both versions.
