Google releases augmented reality version of Space Invaders;  Know how to play

Google is celebrating the 45th anniversary of Space Invaders with a new game that takes place entirely in augmented reality

Now you can fight ships from Space invaders In real life – or thereabouts. In celebration of the 45th anniversary of the first launch, the Google And developer Taito has released a Space Invaders: Global DefenseA new version of the classic game, now in augmented reality.

In the new game, you can control the aiming of the ship using your phone’s camera. Your goal is to destroy the alien ships as fast as possible to collect points and defend your territory.

The new title builds on the same source material as Pokémon Go and other augmented reality titles, but in an even more frenzied and nostalgic way. As you move, you accumulate power-ups to take on increasingly dangerous enemies, and the longer you last, the better you’ll be in the rankings.

“As a member of an elite force of pilots, you’ll defend your territory against invasions in an immersive gaming experience like no other. Engage in missions of all dimensions, from augmented reality to the parallel world of invaders. Success will earn you a place in the higher ranks, as well as special rewards and power-ups,” Google explains.

Available for Android and iOS

According to Google, Space Invaders: Global Defense It takes advantage of ARCore features and is built with the Geospatial API, ensuring good address performance and even adaptation to weather fluctuations.

Google shows that the game can get a bit more intense on occasions, but you need to be aware of your surroundings. Since the game requires movement, it is important to be careful not to bump into people while playing.
