Christian Valen – heat wave in Spain:

Christian Valen – heat wave in Spain:

– Oh, my God. I thought I had heatstroke before.

This would be wrong. Christian Valen speaking to Dagbladet on the phone, from home in Marbella, Spain. On Monday, the thermometer showed 42 degrees in the garden, he says, and it’s only going to get worse for the next few days.

Two weeks ago, there was also a heat wave in Spain. The beautiful day ended with Fallen bedridden.

– I blew pretty pink swans that I really should stop using – but that’s a bit much, he says and laughs.

– I came in the evening and it became “very bad”, I did not understand what was wrong. This was the strangest thing. I was very sick. I had to stay inside for a week with air conditioning on. I felt completely stupid.

Nausea and dizziness

He has now concluded that heatstroke most likely affected him.

– you get a little scared, the pump starts beating really hard, you feel nauseous, dizzy, you search for words, you don’t understand anything. Then my fiancé said it might be heatstroke, Valen says.

Describing himself as very vulnerable, he began looking for other possibilities.

– I read Dagbladet, and I read an article about the fact that you have to examine moles. Then I did.

In retrospect, he says it went well, despite being bedridden for a week.

– But if you don’t take it seriously and only have a week off, then the whole week is over. You’ve put on sunscreen, but you don’t notice — that’s pretty scary.

Longing for bad weather

Now the comedian has learned from his mistakes and bought a hat – which doctors also recommend to prevent heatstroke. At the same time, Valen stays indoors on hot days.

– My fiancé does not allow me to wear a hat, because I am no longer 18 years old. Even if everyone here does it. So I bought myself a “grandfather’s hat” in a Cuban store – that white “Casablanca hat”, which adds 25 years to my age. Then all you have to do is go and sit with 80 year old kids by the sea.

Next week Valen will be performing in Norway, so he will be back home in a few days. Now he longs for rain, heavy storms and high prices.

It sounds awful to complain that it’s hot. But the sunstroke was scary and terrible. If I’m going to give any advice, you shouldn’t take any chances. Don’t mess with the sun and heat.
