Since Princess Martha Louise, 51, and Doric Ferret, 48, became a couple in 2019, there has been controversy surrounding the couple and Ferret’s work as shaman.
In November last year, the palace announced in a press release That Princess Martha Louise stop representing the royal family and only appear on special occasions.
The press release also stated that “The princess and her fiancé, Derek Ferret, will explain the difference between their activities and the royal family. This means, among other things, that they must not use the princess title in social media, in media productions, or in connection with other commercial activity.”
She applied for a trademark with the title Princess
Last fall, Good Evening Norway was able to report that Verrett had applied for a patent in the USA for a trademark bearing Märtha Louise’s title as “The Princess and the Shaman.”
– It is no longer appropriate for the princess to use this title, and therefore it is natural for it to be withdrawn, was the message of the princess through director Karina Scheele Carlsen at the time.
The application was submitted at the end of February last year, and until May 1 of this year the US Patent Office, USPTO has been processing.
Because despite the indication that the application had been withdrawn, Ferret and Princess Martha Louise continued the process of obtaining approval for the application last fall.
On December 22, the couple signed the US Patent Office’s missing papers approving the application.
– They secure the trademark to ensure that no one else misuses it. Not using it himself, the manager of the Martha Louise Company wrote to Good Evening Norway at the time.
In the description of the app, it was mentioned that the brand includes categories such as workshops, personal development within shamanism, healing, spiritual growth, and mental health. In the application, it also stated that the trademark was to be used for, among other things, conference, podcast, and television activities.
When Good Evening Norway reported that this request was being processed, Castle responded as follows:
– It’s good that the princess herself made it clear that it was not appropriate to use this brand, said Juri Fareb, head of communications at the royal court.
The application is now discontinued
After Verrett and Märtha Louise submitted their signatures in December, the USPTO requested more information from the applicant.
Recent documents Good afternoon Norway has access to prove that Ferret has now been informed that the app is no longer active.
“This trademark application has been refused or revoked by the Office and the application is no longer active”it says in the Status field regarding the application.
In a document sent to Ferret’s attorney, the reason was stated:
“The above request was rejected because we did not receive your response with the requested information within the deadline for a response.”
Further, it is informed that if the delay in application is unintentional, the applicant can submit an application to appeal the application.
– Not our intention
Previously, Verrett did not want to respond to our inquiries regarding the order.
Good evening, Norway This time around, they have been in touch with Ferret’s manager, Simon Eriksen Walvik, who said it was not Ferret’s intention to stop the application process.
– There is still a desire to do so, which is to prevent anyone else from using this trademark. So we will now investigate what may have happened, and try to resume processing the request.
Good afternoon, Norway has also been in touch with Princess Märtha Louise’s manager, Karina Scheele Carlsen, who says she has nothing to add other than that.
