The Saint-Gobain Group in Portugal has inaugurated its new abrasive plant in Maia. The plant involved an investment of €18m and created 20 new jobs, and this number is likely to increase by the end of the year.
This is the company’s first manufacturing unit in the country dedicated to the production of non-woven (non-woven) technical abrasives for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) market, which to date is supplied by another Saint-Gobain Abrasivos unit, located in Mexico.
Pedro Busto, Managing Director of Saint-Gobain Abrasivos in Portugal, Spain and Morocco, explains the reason for opening the factory in Maia, “The conversion unit for this type of (non-woven) product is already in the province. Compared to other factories in the group and outside the group, which were in Equation, it was this that provided the best strategic results for supplies to Europe, in addition to the great knowledge and commitment on the part of the local team.In this way, it will be possible to respond more efficiently to market demands and customer expectations. »
Saint-Gobain Abrasivos is dedicated to the production and processing of non-woven (non-woven) technical abrasives and sandpaper, to market the full range of abrasive and surface treatment products from the world of Saint-Gobain Surface Solutions.
