McDonald’s Nuggets | She sued after the ugly McNugget was injured: – she screamed at the top of her lungs

A pair of parents are now suing the fast-food chain McDonald’s, seeking compensation of more than NOK 150,000. The reason is a glowing nugget of chicken.

Since hot, sizzling fried chicken nuggets are no joke, we have to believe this American couple based in Florida.

The incident, which has now found its way into the courtroom, took place at a McDonald’s restaurant in the town of Tamarack in 2019, which is operated by Upchurch Foods.

– I shouted at the top of my lungs

Villana Holmes and her four-year-old daughter were going to the restaurant for a quick bite to eat. In the drive-in slot, mother and daughter ordered something to eat before the food was delivered to the car.

The mom sent the Happy Meal box to her daughter’s backseat before driving off. Then I heard something from the back seat:

– she screamed at the top of her lungs, the mother explains to the court, according to the newspaper sentinel sun.

There, the 4-year-old daughter lost one of the small pieces, so that it was wedged between her thigh and the seat belt, according to the mother.

Holmes’ lawyer then claimed in court that the fried chicken was 93 degrees and that the girl had second-degree burns on her thigh.

Attention, powerful photos! Television station WPLG Local 10 did a feature about the lawsuit. There you can also see photos of the four-year-old’s injuries:

Unreasonably hot

According to the lawyer, the 4-year-old ended up with a large gash where the piece of chicken fell.

– The piece of chicken that was in the Happy Meal box was unbelievably hot. The lawsuit states that this resulted in burns to the girl’s thigh.

The girl’s father, Humberto Carballo Estevez, explained to the court that his daughter still had a visible scar on her thigh. He explained that the scar no longer bothered his daughter, but she sometimes referred to it as “her own nugget”.

In a statement to sentinel sun McDonald’s says the following about the incident:

– This case has been thoroughly investigated. Ensuring a high level of food safety and quality requires strict guidelines and procedures for every product we prepare and serve. These guidelines and procedures were followed in this case. We therefore respectfully disagree with the plaintiff’s claim, as stated in the statement.

All he’d have is a McMuffin…

Not the first time

This is not the first time that the world’s largest fast food chain has been sued for serving scaldingly hot products to its customers. In 1994, a 79-year-old woman sued McDonald’s after she spilled coffee on her lap and suffered third-degree burns.

The court ruled that McDonald’s sold extremely hot coffee to the woman and she came out victorious with $2.8 million in her pocket. The lawsuit was appealed and the amount reduced, but in the end the two parties came to an agreement for an unknown amount.
