a Rio Ave president Antonio Silva Campos gave an interview to Antena 1 this Tuesday, breaking the silence surrounding FC Porto’s supposed interest in acquiring Guga Rodrigues, a player whose contract expires in June 2024.
The Vilacondense captain-in-chief refused to confirm the blue and white’s “harassment” of the 25-year-old midfielder, but assumed it was “the right time” to move him, as a result of him being near the end of contact between the two parties.
“We know that this season is crucial, because if we go into the last season, it devalues the player a lot. It’s the right time to do the deal (…). There is a will, because, if we want to monetize assets, and Rio Ave was no exception. Al Qaeda, this is the right moment for that to happen,” he said.
“I think my conscience and my experience, with what we’ve gained over all these years, is that the secret is business spirit. We won’t rush, so as not to mess with the value,” he continued.
