Vitória de Guimarães said goodbye to Antonin Cortes and, in the end, Simeone may not leave Atlético Madrid.
Guimarães victory: Winger Antonin Cortés left the club from Guimarães after bolstering Minho’s side at the start of the 2022/23 season on loan from Spanish side Granada. After strengthening the squad coached by Moreno in July 2022, in a “free” deal that included an €800,000 buy-out option, the 22-year-old Spanish winger made his debut for the Victorians on August 4, 2022, in a loss to Croatia from Hajduk Split (3- 1), in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the European Conference League. The winger wore the Vitoria shirt for the last time on October 15, 2022, in the 3-1 victory over Canelas, for the third round of the Portuguese Cup, after counting 147 official minutes. The striker was a Spain Under-21 international, who represented Málaga, Rayo Vallecano and Granada before joining the club from Guimarães.
Club Brugge: Benfica’s opponents in the Champions League announced the signing of English goalkeeper Joseph Bursic, who played for Stoke City, in the second division of English football. The 22-year-old guard has signed for four-and-a-half seasons, and the transfer fee has yet to be disclosed. Borcik, who played for Wimbledon until the age of 17, was in the starting line-up last season and at the start of the current season, but ended up losing his place to Ireland’s Jack Bonham.
Bayer Leverkusen: The German club announced the signing of Belgian Under-19 Noah Mbamba, who was part of Club Brugge’s squad. The young defensive midfielder has signed a contract until June 2028, with Leverkusen ahead of Premier League champions Chelsea and Crystal Palace in the running. Mbamba’s contract expired at the end of the season, and the player did not intend to continue in Belgium after he did not play with the first team this season. In the previous season, he made 14 appearances in the national championship and three in the Champions League. “I love German football, and Bayer is known for giving young players opportunities to reach higher levels,” Mbamba said in remarks posted on the German club’s website.
Madrid athlete: After all, Simeone may never leave Atletico Madrid. And the Spanish TV program “El Chiringuito” reported that the coach was going to inform Miguel Angel Gil Marin, CEO of Atletico Madrid, of his intention to leave at the end of the season, but the newspaper “Marca” denied this information.
