Although trends in the fashion world are getting bolder in terms of shapes and colors, there is one piece that consumers are putting on the fringes of this recklessness: sneakers (or sneakers, depending on where you read us). Whoever guarantees this is Edgar Sebra, responsible for it Intenseone of the largest tennis stores in the North and Central, with an online store where you can find practically everything.
“The classics rarely go out of fashion,” Edgar explains, adding that what we are seeing now – i.e. “times of uncertainty, crisis, and recession” – are leading consumers to take no risks, and to acquire “safer choices.” Therefore, it is likely that the bets, this season, will fall on “more classic, more sober models.”
This is the tendency most often manifested in the male audience, which presents a “slightly more conservative behaviour”. On the other hand, women “take more risks with shoes, and even if they buy old things, they buy other mannequins,” Edgar explains to MAGG.
However, in his experience, in general, “timeless paradigms that correspond to everything” are the propositions that bring the most results. This is especially true of white shoes. “Perhaps because they are a safer option, they continue to be the best-selling models of any brand,” he asserts.
Thus, the iconic Nike Air Force is in great demand, “especially in the younger classes”. However, this is a brand that is “virtually not present in Portuguese retailers, due to the unilateral decision of the brand – but we have managed to find it in international retailers”, explains Xtreme responsible to MAGG. Given the rarity that is starting to appear in the market, “there are other brands taking advantage of this, such as Ralph Lauren, who has a similar model,” he adds.
For the most sought-after, Edgar Seabra highlights Gant, Lacoste and Fred Perry as favorite brands of the male audience. As for the ladies, New Balance is “very strong right now,” with the 327, 530 and 550 most popular models, also in discreet colors, like white and silver accents.
Adidas has also, year after year, relied on some pairs of sneakers that are becoming increasingly popular. Recently, the terrace line, which is inspired by “inner inspiration, from sports such as handball and futsal”, has been very popular. So, from the classics, like Campus and Gazelle, to the more daring, like Munchen, Tobacco and Handball Spezial, there are options for all tastes.
With all these pointers in mind, MAGG has made the selection for you. Available in stores such as Xtreme, Footlocker and JD and on the respective brands’ websites, options range from €59.90 to €149.99.
