Ball - Nominated Pablo Piccardo for Best Athlete in the World (Athletics)

Pablo Piccardo, world triple jump champion, has been nominated, among 10 nominees, for Athlete of the Year by World Athletics. Performances have been evaluated at the World Championships in Oregon, in the USA, the Belgrade World Indoor Championships, meetings and other competitions.

They were nominated:

– Christian See (Slovenia): World Champion in Discus Throw and Diamond League;

Alison dos Santos (Brazil), world champion in the 400m hurdles and Diamond League.

– Armand Duplantis (Sweden): absolute and indoor world champion, also winner of the Diamond League and European Champion;

Sofiane El Bakkali (Morocco), unbeaten 2022 in 3000 hurdles, World Champion and Diamond League winner.

– Grant Holloway (USA): 110m hurdles world champion, Diamond League winner and world 60m hurdles champion,
– Jakob Ingbrigtsen (Norway): world champion in the 5,000m, runner-up in the 1,500m and 5,000m indoor; European 1500m and 5000m champion, Diamond League winner in 1500m.

Eliud Kipchoge (Kenya): Marathon world record holder, winner in Berlin and Tokyo.
Noah Lyles (USA): World 200m champion and Diamond League winner
Anderson Peters (Grenade): World Javelin Throwing Champion and World Leader
Pedro Piccardo (Portugal): World Champion for the best mark of the year (17.95 metres) and indoor track runner-up, European Champion.

Voting ends on October 31, and the list will be reduced to five finalists. The final winner will be known in early December.
