Returning to Portugal, after winning the finals in Argentina, a title that combines two European titles and one world title, the national coach cemented the path to success and spoke about how he continues to motivate the players.
“It’s not necessary, it’s normal in everyday life. Watching every workout, every meal, every meeting… the way we all live is so natural. We can’t look back, the past is already rich, but the most important day will be the first training session in focus. The next day for the World Cup qualifiers, he added, “It is the most important day we have to look forward to.”
Proud of this title in a new competition, organized in partnership between UEFA and CONMEBOL – also recognized by FIFA – Jorge Braz emphasized: “There are no limits to what we have to do and how we can constantly beat ourselves. The competition is new, we wanted to continue with this record and win the title for Portugal.”
The team has not lost an official match in six years (the last defeat dates back to September 28, 2016, in the semi-finals of the World Cup, against Argentina) and Jorge Braz says the ambition is to continue on this path. “We don’t want to lose now, qualifying for the World Cup is coming. We want to win all the games, win the group so we can get to the stages we have to be legitimately and with very clear aspirations for everyone. We can’t slow down.”
