Santa Clara coach Mario Silva defended in a Sports Sports TV interview that his team deserves to leave Famalecao with at least one point (they lost 0-1).
“We played a more timid first half, with Famalecao up front, but we were always in the game, even though we weren’t always what we liked and worked. Offensively, it wasn’t easy because they are solid at home. We had two setbacks, two injuries in that half. The first, two exchanges we had to burn, and that made us see the rest of the game. It’s part of it, but a lot happened to us. In the second half, it was different, we struggled, worked and created scoring chances, we even risked conceding goals in the transition. But We wanted to change it and we had opportunities to do that, and we controlled the game more than in the first half. We don’t give credit to Famalicão, we deserved to leave with at least one point. He stressed that we will continue to work so that the next match will be even better.”
The team has only one point so far, but Mario Silva thinks the team will turn around: “From the moment we close the group we have to work together and look for points and victories. But first we have to stabilize the team. We have a lot of work ahead and we have been dealing with Lots of setbacks, although it’s not an excuse because I’m in charge and I’ll always be here to show my face. We have all the conditions to grow and become better.”
