Tickets for the Coimbra concert sold out at 10 a.m., and fans slept on the street all night to get a ticket. Vila Nova de Gaia, Coimbra, Porto, Maia, Matosinhos and Vila do Conde have lines of several meters in length.

The fan queue for a Coldplay ticket around Rua de Passos Manuel runs until January 31. Sophia was sitting in the doorway, framed by an FNAC poster, nervously twisting the corner of her coat. She’s been sitting here for about 12 hours. “We arrived yesterday at 8:30, I hope it was worth it,” he told JN. The night was not very cold, he slept little, alternating with his cousin. They have been Coldplay fans since the late ’90s.

Anna, who is a few meters ahead and who is meanwhile a friend of hers, serves coffee and shoots her: “Laugh, if you don’t get a ticket, no one can.” The statement seemed to bring him some relief, now that doubt began to plague his mind: “What if I can’t get a ticket?”
